see the embers floating through the sky
falling gently on the trees

the tinted sunsets fading into darkness
as the evening moon arrives
an eerie kind of silence grips my heart
as I think of those who’ve died

I flick between the stations as I listen
to the tragedies unfold
I look into face’s of the victims
wish I could help them all

the brave, they battle through the storms
